Audio Admissions Tours

HeadphonesThe audio admissions tours are designed to provide you with information about the University of Oxford from a student perspective and guidance on how to apply for an undergraduate degree course. Oxford University does not have a single campus: the various locations that make up the University are spread across the city. The audio admissions tours will help you to find your way around the centre of Oxford and direct you to many places of interest.

Each of the tour routes is designed to cover a different subject area, a selection of undergraduate colleges and departments as well as other University locations, such as the Bodleian Library. All of the stops have been recorded as separate audio tracks by staff members, from the Undergraduate Admissions Office, who recently graduated from Oxford. You can visit the locations in any order you like, though the accompanying guide has a suggested route for you to follow.

We hope you find the tour helpful and interesting. If you have any questions, or if you would like to access the tour in an alternative format, the staff in the Admissions Information Centre will be glad to help. If you have any feedback about the tours, please let us know by emailing liaison@admin.ox.ac.uk.

How to choose your route

BikeAt the moment you will see there are six different audio tour routes for you to choose from. There is the Green Route, which covers Living Sciences; the Orange Route, which covers Physical Sciences; the Yellow Route, which covers Social Sciences; the Purple Route, which covers Humanities; the Red Route, which covers Oxford Student Life, and the Blue Route, which covers Historical Oxford. All routes will take you to undergraduate colleges, departments and important University locations and all include information and guidance on the admissions process.

Although there is a theme to each tour, there are a number of general tracks which will be useful for anyone interested in any of our undergraduate courses. There is also the chance to find out more about the college system and the history of the University on both tours.

Each route will take you about 60 to 90 minutes to walk and listen to all of the audio tracks in full. Alternatively, you can pick any particular tracks that you would like to listen to and plan your own route. For example, if time is short, you may like to choose to visit two colleges, the Bodleian and the University Science area. For more information on planning your route contact the Admissions Information Centre.
