Murder in the Cloisters

Murder in the Cloisters is a three day residential which takes place in the Easter holidays each year. Participants arrive at an Oxford college to take part in some taster activities; however the peace of the dreaming spires is shattered when a student is found dead on the college lawn. The participants are then invited to help the detective solve the murder through a number of clues, academic sessions and suspect interrogation.

The Murder in the Cloisters residential for 2013 has just finished - but please keep an eye out for our next round of applications towards the end of 2013!

We had to work as a team to solve the murder, and we did it!

Murder in the Cloisters 2013

This year Murder in the Cloisters took place from Tuesday 9th to Thursday 11th April 2013.

For the first time we were delighted to be able to open this residential to younger students. Murder in the Cloisters 2013 was targeted at students attending local state schools, in Year 8 and Year 9 in the academic year 2012-2013.

Costs

This year we have asked our partner schools to contribute towards the cost of accommodation and meals, for those students they wish to send on this residential.

Match funding in this way will enable 60 young people to benefit from this residential, whilst keeping costs to their school to a minimum.

The cost to schools for the 2013 residential is currently £125 per pupil. NB eligible students will meet Pupil Premium criteria.

We hope that this collaboration will ensure that the residential can continue to benefit students, for many years to come.

What do participants do on Murder in the Cloisters?

Participants take part in a number of academic and social activities, from museum trails and treasure hunts to forensic science workshops and a formal dinner. We aim to give each participant an insight into life at University and the variety of courses and activities on offer.
