Community Engagement
In addition to the Residential Programmes and Workshops run by the Widening Participation team, we are also engaged in some community endeavours.
In 2011 the Widening Participation team supported Oxford community events such as Oxford Science Festival, Oxford City Careers Festival and the Cowley Road Carnival. Staff and students from across the university helped to deliver a number of educational activities for children and parents focused on science, maths, international awareness and careers.
Cowley Road Carnival
The Widening Participation team have historically been a sponsor of the Cowley Road Carnival, and have in the past hosted a stall at the event. We are pleased to announce that we will be doing the same again this year!
The Carnival is taking place on Sunday July 7th 2013, and we will be on Cowley Road at the SS Mary & John Churchyard from approximately 12pm - 4pm.
The theme this year is Wheels of Change. We will have a range of fun, educational and free activities available to take part in, including:
- arts & crafts
- creative writing and poetry competitions
- games
- spot prizes
The Carnival itself will run from 12pm - 7pm and will be between Jeune Street and Magdalen Road. For more information about the event please visit the official Carnival website.
