The University of Oxford is currently home to 56, full degree,
undergraduates from India. We seek to recruit the most
academically gifted students from the country.
Our students receive an intensive education, including our distinctive
tutorials, and are taught by academic leaders in their field. Colleges
provide multidisciplinary communities within which students are
supported and intellectually challenged, and have the opportunity to
meet people from all walks of life and many different countries.
Our activity in your area
Through the generosity of the late Mr Pathak, an Indian
businessman who has endowed scholarships for Indian students to pursue graduate
study at Oxford University, Dr Chris Ballinger will be visiting India in April
2013 to encourage Indians to apply to study at Oxford
University.
Dr Chris Ballinger is Academic Dean at Oxford University’s
Exeter College, which is the fourth oldest College of the University (founded
in 1314). He studied PPE at Oxford University, and subsequently achieved
a Masters and Doctorate in Politics, also from Oxford University.
Chris will talk about what makes an Oxford education special
and the types of student for which it is best suited. He will also
provide information about studying and living at Oxford, including the choice
of course, the collegiate structure of the University, social life, and the
financial costs and benefits. And he will discuss the application process,
including admissions tests and interviews. After the talk there will be ample
opportunity for students to ask questions in a one-on-one basis.
Chris will be visiting Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore, holding two talks in each city: one talk is
aimed at school and Junior College (High School) students, and their parents,
and is about how to apply to be an undergraduate student at Oxford
University. The other is for current University students, about how to be
a postgraduate student studying for a Master’s degree, or a Doctorate, at
Oxford University.
Those interested in attending the talk can RSVP
at http://ousi.org/events, where further
details can also be found.
