Written work
How to submit your work
Where written work is required for your subject, it must be submitted with a cover sheet by the 11 November 2013, to the Tutor for Admissions at the college considering your application. Contact details of the Tutors for Admissions can be found on the individual college pages.
Written Work Cover Sheet (38 kb)What to send
Written work is required in some subjects to allow candidates the opportunity to demonstrate their analytical, reasoning, language and writing skills, as appropriate for their chosen degree course. You can check which subjects require written work on the 'How to Apply' tab on each of the course pages or on the summary of written work requirements page.
Written work
should have been produced as part of normal school or college work,
and marked by a teacher. We would expect each piece of written work to be no more than 2,000 words, and it may be substantially less than this, where indicated on individual course pages. It may be
typed or handwritten – as long as it is legible – and photocopies are
acceptable, but work must be original marked work not re-written or
corrected for Oxford entrance. It should be sent unfolded, with a
completed cover sheet.
Please note that, unfortunately, written work cannot be returned to you, so do keep a copy.
Extended essays
Extended essays for the International Baccalaureate, Extended Projects, or other longer pieces of work are not acceptable as submitted written work. However, if you mention your essay in your personal statement, tutors may like to discuss this with you at interview if your application is shortlisted.
International students
All written work must be in English (except where required for Modern Languages). International students whose work is in a language other than English are asked to submit both the original work and their own translation into English.
Not sure what to send?

If you still are not sure what to send, or if you are concerned that you do not have suitable written work, please contact the Tutor for Admissions at the college considering your application.
