This conference concludes our Making Materials Matter Project which is funded by Oxford Materials and Cambridge Materials with support from The Company of Ironmongers’. The project is engaging with Yr8 students and teachers of science to enrich the science curriculum, increase awareness of Materials Science and support teachers in raising aspirations and inspiring their students to pursue further study of the physical sciences.

“Making Materials Matter” centres on a student investigation designed and supported jointly by Oxford and Cambridge Materials to draw links between the curriculum and cutting edge materials for developments. We are currently working with 5 state schools in London supporting teachers and students on a range of projects from ‘How to stop a bullet?’ to ‘How to build a body?’

The Science Teachers Conference will conclude the project and make available all resources developed. Further, the conference will include CPD workshops enabling teachers to link curriculum content to materials science as well as networking opportunities.
