A free event for history teachers.

Speakers include Sir Richard Evans (former Regius Professor of Modern History and current President of Wolfson College, Cambridge) and Professor Patricia Clavin (Professor of International History at Jesus College, Oxford, and Winner of the 2015 British Academy Medal). We will also be running a seminar on how to get the best young historians into Oxford. Please contact me ([email protected]) if you're interested in attending.

There will also be an optional three-course dinner in the dining hall from 18:30 to which you would be warmly invited. We would ask for a modest contribution towards the costs of the dinner, but otherwise the day is on us (incl all refreshments). We are also able to give money towards travel expenses.

The list of the confirmed speakers is:

  • Sir Richard Evans: 'The Pursuit of Power, 1815-1914'
  • Professor Patricia Clavin: 'Global Nodes, Global Orders, 1900-1989'
  • Dr Thomas Brodie: 'Religion and Germany's 20th Century'
  • Dr Simon Mee: 'Monetary mythology: the uses and abuses of Germany's history of inflation'
