English Language and Literature

'Studying English Literature means being curious about all kinds of things, like history, philosophy, psychology, politics, aesthetics. It starts from detailed literary analysis, and expands to ask much bigger questions about who we are and how we experience and represent our selves, our world, and each other.'

Modern Languages

'Choosing to read Modern Languages is a decision I have never regretted. It is enormous fun and incredibly varied. At Oxford, studying a language is more than just grammar: it also involves the study of literature, cinema, linguistics, and exploring the country’s history through all these elements. Moreover, the year abroad is just too good an opportunity to miss, and it will place you ahead of many of your peers when it comes to job searching later.'
