St Hilda's College

About the college

St Hilda’s is situated a short walk from Oxford city centre, on the East bank of the River Cherwell; with the University Sports Centre and the vibrant Cowley Road, full of cafes, music venues, bars and global cuisines, on its doorstep.

All first years live on the main college site and can choose to live in college accommodation for the entirety of their degree. Shared kitchen facilities are available, and our beautiful dining hall overlooking the river offers a variety of food that is sustainable, local and seasonal.

At St Hilda’s, we’re friendly, inclusive, and welcoming. As a medium-sized college among the University of Oxford colleges, you'll find we're small enough for you to easily make friends, yet large enough to offer a diverse range of students, tutors, and courses, along with outstanding facilities.

The college is a caring academic community, with passionate and supportive tutors, a dedicated welfare team, and one of the most extensive college library collections in Oxford.

We also offer a generous range of bursaries and financial awards for academic work, travel, sport, and other activities to help you make the most of your time here. Regardless of your background, we want you to become a part of our community, feel like you belong, settle in quickly, and go on to achieve your full potential.

College outreach

Link areas

In order to ensure that all areas of the UK are fully supported by the University of Oxford, our colleges are working together to establish Oxford for UK, a series of regional outreach programmes offering tailored and local support to students of mixed ages, their parents and teachers.

Getting in touch with the college linked to your region has no influence on your chances of being accepted to this or any other particular college. You are also very welcome to get in touch with any other college for advice about applying or studying here.

St Hilda's College is part of Oxford for South East.

Outreach programmes

Our Building the Future campaign supports our Schools Programme, which sees us work with teachers to encourage applications from schools that lack a tradition of sending high-achieving students to top universities.

St Hilda's collaborates with other colleges to provide support to schools in the South East, but specialising in working with our link areas of Surrey and Hampshire.

The College is also involved in a number of larger pan-university projects such as the UNIQ summer school and working with Target Oxbridge
