Oxford in India

400 Years of Oxford and India

In order to celebrate the 400-year relationship between the University of Oxford and India, the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford, Andrew Hamilton, led a delegation to Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata in March 2012. The trip included:

  • a celebration of Oxford University Press’s 100th anniversary in India
  • a Diamond Jubilee address at the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur
  • meetings with research partners, alumni, and government and business leaders

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised the rich opportunities for Indian students to undertake postgraduate study at Oxford, including our generous range of fully-funded scholarships.
