The newly formed Radcliffe Department of Medicine (RDM) runs a large graduate research programme in both basic medical science and clinical disciplines.
The RDM comprises research groups in several centres, institutes and divisions, including:
The constituent parts of the new department maintain their own identity and have substantially devolved administration but collaboration across the parts is close and productive.
The research within RDM spans the following disease areas/clinical disciplines:
- Cardiovascular medicine
- Diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism
- Genes, genetics and genomics
- Heamatology and pathology
- Immunology
- Regenerative medicine and stem cells
- Acute stroke
The scientific approaches used are:
- Cell and molecular biology
- Epidemiology and clinical trials
- Genes, genetics and genomes
- Imaging
- Patient-based research and in-vivo physiology
- Stem cells
