Centre for Doctoral Training in Healthcare Innovation DPhil

Course Code | 002465

Students undertake a four-year training programme. The first year is devoted to acquiring the essential theoretical and technical skills from the physical sciences, and background knowledge in the life sciences. In addition students will complete a short hospital internship and two 8-week research projects. Students then transfer into their main research group, continuing one of the projects for the remaining three years. Students will complete their main research project in one of the three research areas of the CDT:

  • Information Driven Healthcare
  • Cancer Therapeutics and Delivery
  • Modelling for Personalised Healthcare

The CDT has its own dedicated teaching space, including offices, seminar and meeting rooms. In addition, it draws upon expertise and resources from the Institue of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Engineering Science.

This is the first year of the CDT in Healthcare Innovation therefore there are no graduates from the programme at present. However graduates will have the skills and knowledge to pursue careers in academic or industrial biomedical research.

Entry Requirements

Good undergraduate honours degree (minimum of upper second class or equivalent) in Physical Sciences (e.g. Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics). Life Science graduates with strong Mathematics skills will be considered
