MSc in Experimental Therapeutics (part-time)

Course Code | 003801

The Clinical Pharmacology Division and the Department for Continuing Education’s CPD Centre offer a part-time two-year taught MSc in Experimental Therapeutics.

Taught by leading clinicians and scientists, the programme aims to provide students with the necessary training and practical experience to enable them to understand the principles that underpin clinical research, and to enable them to translate that understanding into good clinical and research practice.

The flexible, modular structure of the part-time programme has been devised to suit busy professionals in full-time employment and the elective modules give scope for student choice.

Six compulsory modules cover:

  • The structure of clinical trials and experimental therapeutics
  • Drug development, pharmokinetic and imaging
  • Pharmacodynamics, biomarkers and personalised therapy
  • Adverse drug reactions, drug interactions and pharmacovigilance
  • How to conduct research on therapeutic interventions
  • Biological therapeutics

Each module includes access to online resources as well as one week of intensive face-to-face teaching in Oxford. In addition, participants will produce a research dissertation based on a work-related project.
