If you are currently studying for a taught Master's
course at Oxford and wish to apply to carry on to a research programme
with no break in your study, you can apply for readmission via the
Embark system. You will find a link to this system and the code you
require in order to submit your application for readmission in the Academic and Assessment Information section of Student Self-Service.
If
you have used Embark to submit an application in the past and log in
using your previous account details, your personal information will be
automatically populated into the readmission form. If you previously
applied via the paper format, you will need to open a new account and
enter your details manually.
You will only be able to use the
readmission form if you are studying on an eligible course.
Principally, eligible courses comprise any taught MSt, MSc or MPhil; or
an MFA, BCL, MJur, BPhil or MTh. You may use the readmission form to
apply to DPhil research courses offered by different departments.
In
addition, BCL and MJur students applying to the MPhil in Law or the
DPhil in Law, as well as MPhil in Law and MSt in Legal Research students
applying to the DPhil in Law, are also able to use the readmission
form.
- You will require an authorisation code from Student Self-Service in order to submit a readmission form; this code is located at the bottom of the Academic and Assessment Information section once you have logged in to the system.
- You will not be charged an application fee for making an application using the readmission form.
- You
may upload new documents and/or specify that you wish to re-use
materials from a previous Master's application in order to provide the
required set of supporting documents if the department running the
programme you wish
to apply for permits you to do so; please see the Supporting Materials for Readmission Candidates page for full details.
- You
may reapply to your current college or specify an alternative choice.
If you wish to stay at your current college,
you must indicate this college as your preferred college on the form -
you will therefore not be eligible to be considered for scholarships at
other colleges which require you to indicate that particular college as
your preference. You should first check that your current college
normally accepts applications for the programme that you are applying
for; if they do not, you should contact your college office to discuss
whether an exception is possible. If your college indicates that they
would be willing to consider your application under these circumstances,
please contact the Graduate Admissions office for further assistance with completing the admissions process.
If you specify an alternative preferred college and you are unsuccessful,
your application will be treated in the same way as all other
applications and the University cannot guarantee that the college
accepting you will be your current college.
Information in the Application Guide
specifically relevant to the readmission form is highlighted,
although you will also require the instructions contained in the rest of
the document to successfully complete your application.
Saïd Business School students
If
you are currently undertaking a programme of study other than a taught
MSc at the Saïd Business School, or you wish to undertake doctoral
research based in the Saïd Business School you are not eligible to use
the readmission form. If you are a current taught MSc student at SBS,
you may apply for DPhil programmes in Oxford other than at SBS using the
readmission form.
Applicants interested in studying at the Saïd Business School should contact them directly.
