Varsity Twenty20 Match

Varsity Twenty20 match

Oxford won the Varsity Twenty20 match held on
Friday 4th June 2010 by 53 runs. This was the first time that
Oxford had won the Armada Shield.

The Twenty20 format of cricket was first introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003. The game is played with two short innings of just twenty overs. This gives a very different feel to the cricket match with lots of big-hitting action and quick runs.

Charles Russell Varsity Twenty20 Cricket

The inaugural Varsity Twenty20 match was held on Friday 6th June 2008 and marked a milestone as the game was incorporated into Oxbridge’s ancient Varsity tradition for the first time. The Varsity Twenty20 match precedes the four and one-day Varsity fixtures and serves as a great chance to see the form of the university’s team ahead of their Lord’s one-day game.

The match is held in University Parks and is sponsored by Charles Russell LLP. Admission is free.
