Travel

Bus Travel

University employees can purchase annual or quarterly bus passes at a discounted rate through the University.

Train Discount

The University Train Pass scheme provides a discount on rail season tickets plus other benefits.

Childcare

We have four subsidised nurseries for under-fives and also places at some private nurseries (there is currently a waiting list for all nursery places). There are also salary sacrifice and National Insurance voucher schemes for staff parents, and a Holiday Playscheme for children aged 4 to 14.

Clinical staff holding honorary NHS contracts may apply for a place in one of the Trust Nurseries.

University Club

The University Club provides social, sporting and hospitality activities for all staff, postgraduate alumni, retired staff and associated institutions of the University. The University Club building is located on Mansfield Road, and incorporates a lively Club bar, where members can view all Sky sporting events, a cafe which serves food all day until 1700, along with various sporting facilities including a gym and floodlit 5-aside football pitch. There are also 14 en-suite bedrooms available to book at favorable rates for visitors to Oxford.

University Sports Facilities

All University staff are eligible to use the University Sports Centre on Iffley Road. There is an athletics stadium, football pitch, an Astroturf pitch, tennis courts, indoor facilities, Dojo martial arts base, squash courts, sunroom and sauna, sports hall and ancillary rooms. Although these facilities are available to staff, they are booked up quickly, on a first come, first served basis (with priority given to students) and it is advisable to book well in advance. There is a fitness centre – Oxford PULSE - and a powerlifting room, and swimming pool.

Staff may also apply to join many of the sports clubs based at the centre, though priority is given to students.

Staff Restaurants

The University has various restaurants that are available to staff, for example, in the University Offices and University Club. These restaurants offer competitively priced meals, including vegetarian options, and are open over the lunchtime period and for morning coffee and afternoon tea.

Most hospital sites offer cafeteria facilities, which may be used by University staff employed in clinical departments. Facilities vary between hospital trust sites.
