Dr Nigel Bowles, formerly Balfour Fellow and Tutor in Politics at St Anne’s College, was appointed the Director of the Rothermere American Institute and a fellow of Corpus Christi College with effect from 1 September 2011.

Alumni Relations

Christine Fairchild, Executive Director of External Relations at Harvard Business School, took up the position of Director of Alumni Relations from 7 March 2011.

Terry Lyons

Oxford-Man Institute

Terry Lyons, FRS, Wallis Professor of Mathematics at Oxford and a fellow of St Anne’s College, took up the post as Director of the Oxford-Man Institute on 15 July 2011.

William James

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Resources)

William James, Professor of Virology, fellow of the Oxford Martin School, Academic Bursar at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, Associate Head of the Medical Sciences Division at Oxford and Tutor in Medical Sciences at Brasenose College, was appointed to the post with effect from 1 August 2011. He remains a fellow of Brasenose College.

Stephen Gose

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Personnel and Equality)

Stephen Goss, Director of the Oxford Learning Institute, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Personnel and Equality), Lecturer in Pathology and Tutor in Medicine at Wadham College, was appointed to the post with effect from 1 October 2011. He remains a fellow of Wadham College.

Paul Smith

University Museum of Natural History

Paul Smith, Professor of Palaeobiology, Head of the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences and Director of the Lapworth Museum of Geology at the University of Birmingham, has been appointed Director of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and a fellow of Kellogg College with effect from 1 February 2012.

Shearer West

Humanities

Shearer West, Director of the Research at the Arts and Humanities Research Council, on secondment from a Professorship in the History of Art at Birmingham University, took up the post of Head of the Humanities Division and became a fellow of Magdalen College on 1 August 2011.
