Worcester College

Jonathan Bate, CBE, FBA, FRSL, Professor of Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature at the University of Warwick, was appointed Provost with effect from 1 September.

Balliol College

Professor Sir Drummond Bone, FRSE, FRSA, expert on Byron and previously Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, was appointed Master with effect from I October.

St Cross College

Sir Mark Jones, FRSE, Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, was appointed Master with effect from 1 September.

Mansfield College

Baroness Helena Kennedy, QC, was elected Principal with effect from 1 October.

Hertford College

Mr Will Hutton, economist and leading public intellectual, was appointed Principal with effect from 1 September.

Brasenose

Alan Bowman, FBA, Camden Professor of Ancient History at Oxford, was appointed Principal with effect from 1 October.
