The Queen’s College 2001, Physiological Sciences and Medicine

I am currently a surgical resident in Boston and Clinical Fellow in Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

I chose to study medicine because I wanted to combine scientific research with the privilege of directly relieving human suffering every day of my working life.

My years at The Queen's College were undoubtedly the best of my life

Medicine is an immensely fulfilling profession. You enjoy the privilege of directly impacting countless lives for the better. You also have the opportunity to advance human knowledge by research, with the safety net of clinical medicine to fall back upon just in case you are less lucky with your scientific experiments.

My years at The Queen's College were undoubtedly the best of my life. Your College will offer a supportive home base for all your endeavours. It's the place where you live, work and play – together with fellow students from virtually all academic subjects.

Oxford has an incredible density of individuals who will inspire you. Students have exceptionally close intellectual contact with scientists who are leaders in their field. However, equally important is the inspiration that you will gain from your fellow students. Only a handful of places in the world can compare.

The Oxford education taught me how to think independently. This formed the basis for all my subsequent enterprise.
