Medicine, Lady Margaret Hall

My name is Katie and I’m from South-East London. I attended Newstead Wood School and now I’m at Lady Margaret Hall studying medicine. I took part in UNIQ in 2010.

I had such a fantastic time at UNIQ, meeting new people and experiencing medicine for the first time, that I did not hesitate to apply to Oxford

Before UNIQ, I was not very excited about the prospect of university, and I certainly could not imagine myself attending somewhere like Oxford. I had been successful at school and in examinations but it is still difficult to judge whether that makes you “good enough for Oxford”.

Finding out that there is no such thing as a typical Oxford candidate at UNIQ was very important to me in my application. I had such a fantastic time at UNIQ, meeting new people and experiencing medicine for the first time that I did not hesitate to apply to Oxford, knowing that it would be a place where I would feel at home among people who have similar priorities to me.

I am really enjoying my time at Oxford so far; the course is presenting me with exciting intellectual challenges and I’m still able to fill my free time with music, sport and socialising. I feel extremely privileged to be here and to have taken part in such an awesome experience as UNIQ.
