Vice-Chancellor’s foreword

The University of Oxford has always been known for its balance of past legacy and future vision. This sensitive and unique balance is a factor in all of the ambitious development programmes now underway across the collegiate University, which are the subject of this brochure. Each new building or redevelopment shares the goal of advancing the unique student, teaching and research experience at Oxford, sensitively sustaining the existing foundations, while creating the space and support for new interdisciplinary collaboration, and a superb public environment. These are proposals of which all current and past members of the University can be proud, and should take the opportunity to support.

In introducing this document I should especially like to pay thanks to my predecessor as Vice-Chancellor, Dr John Hood. His unique vision has enabled Oxford’s strategic capital building plan to become a top priority for the University and its colleges.
