The Saïd Business School

The second phase of the Saïd Business School, planned for a site next to the existing building, will enable the School to significantly expand its degree programmes and its executive education. Notably, the executive courses, which have been largely offered at Egrove Park on the outskirts of Oxford, will benefit from the provision of these world-class facilities, including Harvard-style lecture theatres. By expanding the School’s ability to connect to the corporate and professional worlds, the building will greatly contribute to the School’s research abilities and its greater educational mission.

The new building, designed to complement the existing School, should be completed by 2012. This building will be the first thing visitors see as they arrive at Oxford’s railway station, and the last thing they see as they leave. It will form a memorable part of the Oxford city landscape.

Built using the same materials as the School, the new building will echo the tranquility of its exterior and the spacious, gracious welcome of its interior. Torrents of natural daylight, pools of shade, intimate spaces for impromptu meetings and Harvard-style lecture theatres for more public encounters take the concept right through to the gardens, maximising the potential for the cross-fertilisation of ideas, knowledge and acquaintances.

This new development will allow the School to integrate its activities. It will fulfil its mission to become a School that contributes to and draws on the knowledge base of the whole of Oxford University and offer its students an exceptional learning experience second to no other business school. Its success to date has meant that its existing facilities are fully utilised and this stunning addition to Oxford’s architectural heritage is critical to the continuing development of this remarkable institution.
