New Quadrangles Development

The college’s new quadrangles project will result in a series of new buildings, integrate the whole college site, and provide a new entrance to the college. It will build on the work of previous distinguished architects and develop the quadrangular character of LMH established by the completion of the Wolfson quadrangle in the 1960s.

The goal is to accommodate all undergraduate students and the majority of postgraduate students. The architects have worked with the Fellows to design high-quality buildings which, although traditional in appearance, feature significant, modern, energy-saving technologies, designed to foster a sustainable environment.

There will be more than 100 new en-suite study bedrooms. The first phase, now nearing completion, includes a theatre, seminar rooms, and dining room. The second phase creates a new Graduate Centre, porters’ lodge, and front quadrangle. This will have an enormous impact on the life of graduate students at LMH, allowing them an enhanced focus on research and study without the distractions of living far from college. The new facilities will also be available for conference use in vacation time.

Today LMH is as progressive, egalitarian and tolerant an academic community as ever, and enjoys an especially beautiful location next to the University Parks.
