Ship Street Centre

For nearly 450 years, thousands of gifted individuals have spent time in the quads of Jesus College as part of their student experience in the historic heart of Oxford. However, the site is small, and historically, the chances to expand have been rare and limited in scope. The college now has a unique opportunity to extend its island location at the very centre of Oxford through development of a site in Ship Street.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, scheduled for completion in 2010, will enable a much needed expansion, while ensuring the central site continues to be the hub of activity, learning and community for members of the college.

The Ship Street Centre will provide additional, accessible, affordable, high-quality student accommodation, with 31 en-suite rooms, increasing the college’s central accommodation by 30 per cent. It will also provide additional teaching/meeting facilities including a 100-seat lecture theatre, two tutorial rooms and a reception area, as well as a modern, centrally-located conference facility, which will be both an attractive venue and a valuable source of income during vacations.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, scheduled for completion in 2010, will enable a much needed expansion, while ensuring the central site continues to be the hub of activity, learning and community for members of the college.
