Information & Guidance for Supplementary Schools

Supplementary schools offer educational support (language, core curriculum, faith and culture) and other out-of-school activities to children attending mainstream schools. They are established and managed by community members, generally on a voluntary basis. There are 3,000-5,000 such schools in England.

The University of Oxford is working to support Supplementary Schools, by signposting teachers and volunteers to various outreach and access opportunities available and providing downloadable resources to assist in supporting students making university applications.

Below is a list of some of the events, initiatives and summer schools currently available throughout the UK. This list is not exhaustive, but should prove a useful starting point for locating useful events and activities offered by higher education and further education institutions.

The list below is grouped by the year in which you are able to apply (where possible).  Please check any selection criteria listed carefully. Any questions regarding the events below should be directed to the contacts provided in each link.

We will soon be adding downloadable resources for Supplementary School workers, with timelines and important dates to consider when supporting students who are applying to university.
